Garden Debris Information


Garden debris "curbside" collection

Garden debris is collected curbside on a weekly basis starting April 2  nd  through October 5  th  ( Please refer to the Teaneck Times calendar ). Grass, leaves & small plant material must be placed in either non-disposable containers or biodegradable paper bags, weighing no more than 50 pounds each. Branches and shrubs must be cut into lengths of greater than 4 feet and tied into bundles weighing less than 50 pounds each. Landscapers & lawn services must comply with these requirements. Material not properly contained will not be picked up. Garden debris brought to the Depot need not be containerized or tied, but must not be in plastic bags.

Garden debris must be placed curbside no earlier than 6:00 p.m. on the evening before your scheduled collection day and no later than 7:00 a.m. on the day of collection.

  RECYCLING CONTAINER(S)  

The following restrictions and criteria apply to recycling containers used by residents for garden debris pick-up:

1)       Containers must be no larger than 32 gallons in size.

2)       Containers must not have wide bottoms with narrow tops (i.e. pickle barrels).

3)       Containers must have handles.

4)       Containers must be made of either plastic or light weight metal not

cardboard.

5)       Filled containers must not exceed 50 lbs.


Storm related debris

If tree parts fall during a storm, you must comply with the garden debris rules and regulations unless otherwise noted on the Township website.
