It's that time of year again! Why travel out of town when resident children can experience a fun-filled camp experience right here in their hometown?

The Teaneck Recreation Department's Camp Sun-Sational and Sports & Arts camp applications will be available to residents on March 15th in the lobby of the Richard Rodda Community Center and on the Township website at

Three, two-week sessions will be offered this summer.  Tentative camp dates are as follows: Session I - June 26 to July 7 (except July 4), Session II - July 10 to July 21 and Session III - July 24 to August 4.  Campers may register for two sessions initially and request to be placed on a reserve list for the remaining session.  Camp hours for both camps are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Before Care will be offered for 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and After Care from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., both for nominal fees.

Camp Sun-Sational is for children ages 3 (as of October 1, 2016) through grade 3 (as of Fall 2017) and will be held in the Richard Rodda Community Center.  For Phase I (ages 3 & 4) eligible toddlers must be toilet trained and 3 years old by October 1, 2016.  For Phase II (grades K-3) eligible campers must be going into grades K through 3 as of Fall, 2017.

Camp Sun-Sational is a safe, fun, supervised program in a nurturing environment. The camp provides a variety of activities for enjoyment and enrichment. Daily activities include swimming, crafts, organized sports, barbeques, bagel breakfast (kosher and non-kosher food available), one field trip per session, special events and much more.

Sports & Arts Camp is open to Township residents who will be entering the fourth through ninth grades in the Fall of 2017.  It will take place at one of the two middle schools in town.  For each session, children may select three fine arts subjects and three sports subjects to fill a six period day.  Classes are fifty-five minutes in length and the lunch period is thirty minutes.  All classes are taught by certified teachers, coaches and experienced student athletes.

The department will begin accepting mail-in registrations starting Wednesday, March 22.  Additionally, we will have a drop box located in the main lobby of the Rodda Center.  Envelopes in the drop box as well as items mailed will be collected and processed on a daily basis. Beginning May 2, applications will be accepted in person at the Administrative Office in the Richard Rodda Community Center, 250 Colonial Court (south end of Votee Park) between the hours of 8:15 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Tuesdays until 6:45 p.m.)
