"Sports & Arts" and "Camp Sunsational" News Release

Date: May 18, 2017

It’s that time of year again!  Why travel out of town when resident children can experience a fun filled camp experience right here in their hometown?

The Teaneck Recreation Department is currently accepting registrations for Camp Sunsational and Sports & Arts Camp at the Administrative Office in the Richard Rodda Community Center, 250 Colonial Court (south end of Votee Park) between the hours of 8:15 a.m. to  5:00 p.m. (Tuesdays until 6:45).

Three, two-week sessions are offered this summer.  Camp dates are as follows:

  • Session I - June 26 to July 7 (except July 4)
  • Session II - July 10 to July 21
  • Session III - July 24 to August 4.

Campers may register for one, two or all three sessions at this time.  Camp hours for both camps are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Before Care will be offered for 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and After Care from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., both for nominal fees.

Camp Sunsational is for children ages 3 through grade 3 and will be held in the Richard Rodda Community Center.  For Phase I (ages 3 & 4) eligible toddlers must be toilet trained and 3 years old by October 1, 2016.  For Phase II (grades K-3) eligible campers must be going into grades K through 3 as of Fall, 2017.

Camp Sunsational is a safe, fun, supervised program in a nurturing environment. The camp provides a variety of activities for enjoyment and enrichment. Daily activities include swimming, crafts, organized sports, barbeques, bagel breakfast (kosher and non-kosher food available), one field trip per session, special events and much more.

Sports & Arts Camp is open to Township residents who will be entering the fourth through ninth grades in the Fall of 2017.  Camp will be held at Thomas Jefferson Middle School.  For each session, children may select three fine arts subjects and three sports to fill a six period day.  Classes are fifty-five minutes in length and the lunch period is thirty minutes.  All classes are taught by certified teachers, coaches and experienced student athletes.

We welcome the opportunity to discuss our programs with you and invite you to visit our office during business hours.  If that is not convenient, or if special accommodations are needed, please call (201) 837-7130 ext. 1 or e-mail us at recreation@teanecknj.gov.
