2019 Cat License Renewal Notification & Animal Cruelty Laws

Residents are being reminded that Cat License Renewals start on April 1, 2019. Cat owners will have until May 31, 2019 to renew their cat licenses without any penalty.
The fee is $15 for (not) spayed/(not) neutered OR $12 for spayed/neutered (must provide proof). As of June 1st, a $15 late charge will be added to the original fee.
Residents who have new cats or who need renewal applications may obtain one by calling 201-837-1600 (x 1500) or on-line at www.teanecknj.gov (go to Departments/Health Department/Documents & Forms). Renewal applications are also being mailed at the end of March. Free rabies shots can be arranged through the Bergen Veterinary Hospital at (201) 837-3470 or the Teaneck Animal Clinic and Spa at (201) 530-5833 (for existing patients only).
Cat owners should also note that rabies shots that expire prior to February 1, 2020 are NOT valid for licensing purposes. Payment can be made by cash, check or money order. Checks can be made payable to the Township of Teaneck.
** Pursuant to the provisions of P.L.2017, Chapter 189, ALL owners of licensed pets are required to be notified of the laws and penalties as it relates to the Unlawful Treatment of Animals.
