When We Call Their Names - Teaneck's Poet Laureate, Scott Pleasants | 9/11, 25 Years Later
When We Call Their Names
Scott Pleasants, Township Poet Laureate
on the walls of our memories
we see many people
they are placed within the special moments of our lives
and they are often seen through the windows of our dreams
they may sit beside us when we are still
and they may walk with us
hand in hand along the road of reflection
on selected occasions
and at times least noticed
we are moved to call their names
always hoping for a light of response
however understanding
when we are left
in the whispers of our thoughts
we call their names
to respect the lives that they lived
we call their names
in honor of the sacrifices that they made
and we call their names
as a salute to their presence
that continues to live amongst us
