Sagamore Park Area Underground Drainage & Flooding Work to Commence August 25 – Park and Playground to be Closed
Teaneck, NJ – Beginning Monday, August 25, 2025, the Township of Teaneck will commence construction to install a 187,000- gallon stormwater detention tank. This will address a long-standing underground drainage and flooding issue affecting the area south of Sagamore Park, specifically Belle Avenue, Beverly Road, and Beatrice Street.
As part of this project, Sagamore Park and its playground area will be closed to the public. This closure is necessary to stage construction equipment and ensure public safety while work is underway. The park will remain inaccessible for 2 to 3 months as crews work diligently to bring much-needed relief to the neighborhood.
Residents are encouraged to take advantage of other Township parks during this time, including Phelps Park, Votee Park, and the recently renovated Herrick Park.
“We are grateful to the residents of this neighborhood for their patience and continued advocacy,” said Mayor Mark J. Schwartz. “This work has been a few years in the making, and we thank our partners at the local, state, and federal levels along with our Township Engineer, Farah Gilani and Township Manager, Jaclyn Hashmat who helped bring this important project to fruition.”
Updated notifications will be ongoing and posted on social media as the project is underway.
