Rules and Regulations

The following rules and regulations are for the protection and benefit of all members and their guests. These rules have been established to ensure the safe and sanitary operation of the Teaneck Community Pool. Parents are required to caution their children to observe all rules and to obey all instructions of the pool staff at all times.  Failure to comply with any of the rules is sufficient cause for immediate suspension or termination of membership. 

Anyone interested in a 2025 pool membership should visit the Richard Rodda Community Center (250 Colonial Court, Teaneck) during office hours.  All family members must be present as photos will be taken for individual membership cards.

Residents interested in a 2025 membership should visit the Rodda Center during office hours. Family members should be present as pictures will be taken for the membership cards. The Rodda Center is
open Monday-Friday, 8am-5:15pm. Tuesdays until 7pm.

  • Pool use will be restricted to Community Pool Members in good standing and their guests.  

  • All members will be required to show membership cards upon entry.   

  • No one will be allowed in any pool unless a lifeguard is stationed at that pool. 

Pre-Season Schedule - Weekends only from Memorial Day weekend (May 24, 25 & 26) through June 29. 

Full-Season Schedule - Weekday operation will begin 7 days per week starting June 30 through Labor Day, September 1. 

Monday – Friday – 11:00am – 7:30pm 

Saturdays & Sundays – 10:00am – 7:30pm 

Lap Pool Early Hours – 6:45am – 8:15am (Monday-Friday) 

Daily hours may be changed at the discretion of the Township.  

The facility may be closed for maintenance, health conditions, weather, or any other reason deemed sufficient by the pool manager. 

  • Children under the age of 13 will not be permitted inside the facility unless supervised and accompanied by a responsible member who is both 16 years of age or older and a capable swimmer. This member must remain with the child and be responsible for the supervision of the child at all times. 

  • Each membership card is to be used only by the person whose name and picture appear on it. Any member who allows another person to use his/her membership card to gain entrance to the pool grounds will be subject to suspension of privileges. Repeated violations of this rule within one family will result in cancellation of that family’s membership.  

  • Caregiver passes can be applied to any membership. Inquire at the Rodda Center for information. 

  • Membership Cards must be brought to the facility daily.  NO ONE WILL BE ADMITTED WITHOUT A VALID CARD. 

  • Each guest will scan their membership ID card when entering the pool grounds and wait for the badge checker to admit them into the facility. 

  • A $10.00 fee will be charged for replacing a lost or damaged membership card.  

  • Illegal drugs and alcohol are strictly prohibited in the facility. All bags, coolers and strollers may be inspected by pool staff when entering the facility. 

  • Smoking or vaping is prohibited within the facility (including parking lot). 

  • Members and guests may bring non-alcoholic beverages into the facility. Glass bottles are strictly prohibited! 

  • Food may be consumed only in the designated picnic area. Tables are to be used only while eating and are limited to 30 minutes of use. 

  • Parking is permitted in the pool parking lot only. Members are expected to drive slowly and carefully. 

  • All cars in handicap parking spots must have handicap plates or handicap decals.  

  • Bicycles, scooters, etc. must be placed in bicycle racks.  Be sure to bring your own lock.  The Township will not be responsible for damage or theft. 

  • Lockers will be available on a first come, first serve basis.  Be sure to bring your own lock and remove all items at the end of each day.  Locks will be cut and items discarded after closing each day.  The Township will not be responsible for any lost or stolen items. 

  • Lounge chairs will be available for use on a first come first serve basis.  

  • Personal umbrellas, pop-up tents, tables, or similar items are prohibited on pool grounds during regular operating hours.  

  • No foul or offensive language will be permitted.  

  • No personal radios or speakers are permitted without the use of headphones. 

  • Use of the Kiddie Pool is limited to children 6 and under; any child using the Kiddie Pool must be supervised by a responsible person 13 years of age or older. 

  • Members should avoid distracting lifeguards on duty by unnecessary conversation.  

  • Ball playing will be permitted in designated areas only. Balls will not be permitted in any pool. 

  • Flotation devices will not be permitted except US Coast Guard approved life jackets. See office staff for approval. 

  • Water toys, noodles, balls, snorkels, etc. are prohibited in the pools.   

  • All guests must be registered at the office upon entering the facility.  

  • Guests must be accompanied by a member in good standing and remain present with their guest(s) throughout the day.  

  • All guests must wear a wrist band provided by pool staff.  

  • Guests must leave when the member leaves.  

  • Members over the age of 18 are allowed a maximum of 5 guests per day. 

  • Management reserves the right to deny any guest at any time.  

  • Guest passes will expire at the end of the season. 

Members will be held responsible for the actions of their guests and may lead to the suspension or termination of a membership without a refund.

  • Any person showing evidence of any communicable skin disease, sore or inflamed eyes, cold, nasal or ear discharges, or any other communicable disease shall be denied admission. 

  • Any person with excessive sunburn, open blisters, cuts, or bandages shall be denied admission. 

  • Do not enter the water if you are recovering from diarrhea or have had any signs or symptoms of a gastrointestinal disease in the past seven days. 

  • All children in diapers must wear diapers specially designed for immersion in water (such as swimming diapers). 

  • Children should be encouraged to use the restroom before entering the water.  Immediately report any “accidents” you observe in the bathing waters to a lifeguard or pool manager. 

  • No animals, except for service animals, shall be allowed inside the pool facility.  Service animals are not permitted in the swimming pools. 

  • Glass containers shall be prohibited inside the facility.  Cans and plastic containers are acceptable. 

  • All persons shall shower before entering the water. 

  • Conduct which endangers the safety and comfort of others shall be prohibited. 

  • Outdoor bathing shall be prohibited during an electrical storm.  The pool facility must be cleared immediately. 

  • Persons suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol shall be prohibited from entering the facility. 

  • Dress both in and out of the pool will be consistent with standards of good taste.  Proper bathing attire must be worn at all times.  Street clothes such as cut-off shorts, jeans, undergarments and shorts are not permitted.  Thong bikinis or any voluminous attire are not permitted in the pool facility.  

  • No foul language, rough play, running, pushing, wrestling, or causing undue disturbances in or about the pool will be permitted. 

  • Swimmers must use stairs or ladders when exiting the pool.  

  • Swimmers may not stand or sit on the pool ropes or steps. 

  • The deck area surrounding the pools must be kept clear of all personal items such as chairs, flip flops, towels, etc. 

  • Accidents (all cuts, bee stings, etc.) must be reported to the manager or lifeguard. 

  • Diving is only permitted in the 12ft. diving area off of the diving boards.  

  • Only one person is permitted on each diving board at a time. 

  • Divers shall wait at the bottom of each apparatus until the previous person has left the diving board or slide and shall not dive or slide until the previous person has reached the ladder. 

  • Divers must exit the water using the ladder on the same side as the diving board they used.   

  • Diving from the side of the board is not permitted.  

  • Excessive bouncing on the board is prohibited (one bounce only).  

  • The lap pool is to be used for lap swimming only. 

  • Absolutely no diving permitted in the lap pool. 

  • The Township of Teaneck and their employees will not be responsible for loss or damage to personal property.   

  • During operating hours, the pool manager(s) are in full charge and obligated to enforce all rules and regulations.  

  • These rules may be revised at any time by the Township.  Members must obey these rules as well as any instructions given by pool staff.
